Free-Consultation

Our Free Consultation

At Bergmann & Moore, we offer free consultations to Veterans or their family members regarding their VA disability appeals. If you still need to file an initial claim, you can find information and help by clicking here.

The first step in the consultation process is to make sure you have the following information easily accessible:

Veterans:

  • Your most recent VA decision(s) or correspondence.
  • Your service-connected disabilities and their individual ratings (if applicable).
  • If applicable, the amount of any VA pension benefits you receive.
  • If you receive Social Security Disability, the individual disabilities the award was based on.

Surviving Spouses:

  • Your most recent VA decision(s) or correspondence.
  • The Veteran’s service-connected disabilities and their individual ratings (if applicable) prior to their death.
  • The Veteran’s cause of death and a copy of the death certificate.
  • The amount of any monthly VA death pension benefits you receive, if applicable.
  • The amount of any monthly payments you receive from a Survivor’s Benefits Plan (SBP), if applicable.

You can obtain information about your VA decision and service-connected conditions via one of the following three ways:

  • Contact your Veteran Service Organization (VSO).
  • Call the VA at 1-800-827-1000.
  • Use your eBenefits account.

Once you have the above information, complete the short contact form on our website. Please make sure to enter all your contact information, double check that it’s correct, and provide a brief description of why you are interested in a consultation. Once you submit the contact form, a member of our firm’s Intake team will reach out to you within two business days regarding the next step in the consultation process.

FAQ:

Can you help me file a claim?

We do not file initial claims but encourage you to work with a local Veteran Service Organization if you need assistance. Their services are free of charge.

Am I able to get a consultation without my most recent VA decision?

To best help you, we will need a copy of the decision to understand the history of the claim(s), the evidence used in making the decision, the reasoning provided by VA for their decision, and any upcoming deadlines.

I have a service-connected condition that I think should be rated higher, can I do this?

If you are interested in filing for an increased rating, you can do so by clicking here.

If you have been denied for an increased rating and would like to appeal, please contact us for additional assistance.

Are you able to look up my VA claim information with my Social Security number?

No, we do not have access to VA’s internal electronic database systems.

I have an upcoming appeal deadline, what should I do?

If your VA decision has an impending appeal deadline, we suggest reviewing your appeal options and submitting your appeal prior to any deadlines in order to maintain the effective date of the claim(s).
