The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is in the midst of a multiyear transformation plan to better shape how the agency handles and processes Veterans’ disability benefit claims. And VA wants to educate Veterans and families about the changes.
All 56 Regional Offices processing claims at the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) now use a new organizational model. Ideally, the new formalized system will transform the process and result in claims being processed faster and with fewer errors.
Under VBA’s transformation plan, skilled VBA analysts take a look at all new claims and determine which ones will likely take the least and most amount of time — and then they are addressed accordingly.
By funneling all Veterans’ claims through these new Intake Processing Centers (IPC), VBA says the right claims will get to the right place at the right time, improving accuracy and letting the agency work faster. A new VA public affairs YouTube video explains VBA’s new claim triage process.
