The Department of Veterans Affairs, along with the Departments of Education, Labor, and Energy, has created a new contest to help Veterans rejoin the civilian workforce.
The contest, “Badges for Vets,” offers Veterans a chance to create digital badges that will denote their training and experience.
The digital badge system is meant to help Veterans display their skills to potential employers as well as allowing employers to look for qualified applicants. There are five priority areas for badges; supply administration and logistics, law enforcement, medical care and treatment, motor vehicle operators, and automotive service and repair.
The VA Innovations Initiative is giving up to three $25,000 prizes in each of the five categories to teams who can show they have created a digital badge that encompasses their military training and demonstrates skills desired by employers.
