Iraqi and Afghanistan veterans who were discharged with a diagnosis of PTSD will have their records reviewed in a massive government backtrack, to determine if they were improperly denied benefits. Approximately 4,300 veterans will soon be receiving letters allowing them to opt in to the class action lawsuit, which for some veterans could result in hundreds of more dollars per month in disability benefits. The lawsuit initially was filed by 7 veterans who had been granted only a 10% disability. This lawsuit affects only those veterans who were discharged before October of 2008, when a law required a 50% disability be granted to all veterans discharged with PTSD.
