Congress Holds Hearing Today on VA Claims

Bergmann & Moore Client Bettye McNutt to Describe Frequent VA Errors and 8,600 Days of Delays.

Today, December 4, 2013, the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee will hold a hearing at 3:00 PM about the poor handling of Veterans’ disability claims by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Bettye McNutt, a client of Bergmann & Moore, will testify about how her claim was improperly denied by VA seven times since it was originally filed in 1990.  She filed a claim for VA benefits after the death of her husband, Ronnie McNutt, a Vietnam War Veteran who died of an aggressive form of cancer at the early age of 39.  Bettye McNutt will describe the tremendous hardship she continues to endure as VA gave different reasons for denying her claim over a period of 8,600 days – more than 23 years.

Reporter Jamie Reno at Veteran Journal writes about today’s hearing.
