Combat-Related Special Compensation (CRSC)

CRSC is part of a legislative initiative which was passed to restore a veteran’s military retirement pay that has been reduced by VA compensation of at least ten percent when the veteran’s disabilities are combat-related.  Although CRSC specifically addresses disabilities incurred from armed conflict, retirees who developed disabilities from other than combat may also be eligible.  Disabilities caused by exposure to Agent Orange, combat training, aircrew duties, simulated war exercises, parachuting and munitions demolition potentially qualify for compensation under this program.  CRSC compensation is tax-free. Veterans must apply to their own branch of service for CRSC benefits.  If you are currently receiving retired pay, have a VA disability of ten percent or greater, and your retired pay is being reduced by disability payments, you may wish to visit the following website for more information: http://prhome.defense.gov/mppcrsc.html.  This website provides a link to each service’s home page for CRSC benefits.
