B&M’s Paul Sullivan Appointed to CalVet

Governor Brown of California Names Sullivan to State Agency.

Bergmann & Moore is both proud and a little sad to announce that our friend Paul Sullivan, our managing director of public affairs and veterans outreach since 2012, is leaving to become the deputy secretary of communications at the California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet).

Paul was appointed by California Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr., and he begins work in July.

This is a tremendous new opportunity for Paul, who is a tireless advocate for fellow Veterans and helped coordinate and navigate our relationships with the Veterans, Veteran Service Organizations, the national media, Congress, and VA.

Paul has a long and distinguished history of working with and for Veterans. Before coming to the firm, he was executive director at Veterans for Common Sense from 2006 to 2011, a lead program analyst at the Veterans Benefits Administration from 2000 to 2006, and executive director at the National Gulf War Resource Center from 1997 to 2000.

A Veteran himself, Paul was an armored reconnaissance specialist (cavalry scout) in the U.S. Army from 1989 to 1991. He served in the 1st Armored Division during the Gulf War ground invasion of Iraq and Kuwait during February 1991.

Paul, who grew up in Northern California, is honored to begin working for CalVet and Veterans in the Golden State.  He is also excited about this new opportunity and the chance to return to his California roots. We will miss him, and we wish him well.
