Some people recognize him as Det. Mac Taylor on CBS’ CSI:NY or as the irritable “Lt. Dan” in Forrest Gump. But Gary Sinise also has a soft spot for active duty military and Veterans. He serves as fundraiser the United Service Organization (USO), is the national spokesperson for American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial and co-hosts the annual PBS National Memorial Day Concert from Washington, D.C.
On July 4th, the actor will officially announce the creation of a new foundation to to benefit U.S. servicemen and their families. He will discuss the creation and purpose of the foundation, as well as his work with military members and Veterans at a National Press Club luncheon on June 30th.
Sinise also stars in a new award-winning documentary, “Lt. Dan Band: For the Common Good,” which chronicles the travels of Sinise and his band to entertain troops worldwide.
