After serving as an appellate litigator in VA’s Office of the General Counsel, Appellate Litigation Division, in Washington D.C., Mr. Bergmann founded Bergmann & Moore, LLC in 2004. He currently supervises the firm’s appellate practice and has successfully represented over 3000 Veterans before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims (CAVC).
Mr. Bergmann was the president of the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims Bar Association from 2010-2011, and served on its Board of Governors from 2009 to 2012. He was also a member of the Court’s Rules Advisory Committee, and continues to serve on the Court’s Admission and Practice Committee. He is a frequent lecturer on Veterans’ law issues involving disability claims.
Mr. Bergmann graduated from Andrews University (Berrien Springs, Michigan), in 1994, and Indiana University School of Law in 1999. He is licensed to practice law in Maryland (1999) and the District of Columbia (2000). He currently practices before the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims (2001) and United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (2005).
Joe Moore worked as an attorney for VA’s Board of Veterans’ Appeals (BVA) in Washington, D.C. from 1996 to 1999, when he left VA to start his own law practice representing Veterans. In 2004 he founded Bergmann & Moore, LLC with Glenn Bergmann. Although Bergmann & Moore is one of the biggest law firms in the country which only represents Veterans and their families before and against VA, Mr. Moore personally represents and oversees the work done on behalf of every Bergmann & Moore client with a case before VA.
Mr. Moore has served on the Board of Directors for the National Organization of Veterans’ Advocates (NOVA), a non-profit association of more than 500 attorneys who represent Veterans, since 2007, and he currently serves as NOVA’s Vice-President. He has presented on numerous topics related to VA law over the years, and often is called to meet with decision-makers in Congress and in the Department of Veterans Affairs regarding Veterans’ benefits issues.
Mr. Moore has been interviewed about Veterans’ benefits issues by such publications as the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, the Austin Statesman, and the Baltimore Sun, and he has appeared on ABC Nightly News and on BBC International speaking about Veterans’ benefits issues.
Mr. Moore graduated from Saint John’s University (Collegeville, Minnesota) in 1992 with a double major in English and Theology, and he graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1995.
“Many thanks to you and all your staff for all your help. I was stunned when you called regarding stress associated with a process such as this and I thought when I answered the phone “How did he know?” So thanks, too, for the reassurance and moral support – I needed it! And I’m working on trying to relax. Thanks again!”
“I initiated a claim with the Veteran Administration in 1975 after receiving 10% service connection for my wrist injury and denied for PTSD. I engaged in the appeals process. I was denied so many times over the years I thought my name had been changed to denial…After 33 years of enduring and quite weary of the pursuit, an attorney agreed to represent me. Glenn Bergmann reviewed the history of my claim and untangled the knots. I received a 12-year retroactive benefit. Bergmann & Moore’s win for me was also a victory for generations of Veterans to come.”
“After being denied by the VA 4 times since 1997, I retained Bergmann & Moore. Upon my initial conversation, I knew I had made the correct decision in retaining this firm when Mr. Moore told me and my wife that our claim was valid and worth pursuing, as he had many years’ experience working for the VA and evaluating claims…I have dealt with law firms and attorneys most of my adult life and I can honestly say, Bergmann & Moore rank as the finest I’ve run across. I would not have won this Award without their professional help–it really is that simple. They are true professionals who are dedicated to helping and assisting Veterans of any age or conflict. If you have a valid claim, contact this law firm immediately. Don’t wait years as I did, and most of all, do NOT attempt to take on the VA system by yourself. You’ll come up short! My wife and family can now enjoy our “Golden Years” together, and it does not get any better than that. Thank you, Mr. Moore & Staff.”
“I had a legitimate claim against the VA but was unable to gain recognition for my disabilities until I evened the playing field by hiring the law firm of Glenn Bergmann and Joseph Moore. Fight fire with fire. The VA has vast resources of legal representation. Therefore, it stands to reason that Veterans should obtain the same quality of counsel – even the playing field. I did and the results were favorable.”
“Thank you so very much for your help! This would have been absolutely impossible without your intervention. As you are well aware, we have been trying for years to battle for our rights. All the others whose job it was to protect our rights accomplished nothing. Thanks again!”
“I can’t thank you enough for taking my case and winning for me. I would recommend you to anyone who needs the best lawyer in the nation. You are such a nice person to talk to. Dealing with the VA is tough. They kept denying me. I’m so grateful for you. I still find it hard to believe.”
