Marine Corps Sgt. Bill Cahir, once an employee on Capitol Hill, a reporter, and later a Congressional nominee, felt a call to serve his country following the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Called to duty in both Iraq and Afghanistan when he had the option to avoid such dangerous locations, he instead elected to go to areas where he had the opportunity to better peoples’ lives. Sgt. Cahir was killed in action in Afghanistan several weeks ago by enemy fire in the Helmand province, and our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends for this patriot and hero who inspired so many.
